It was a another hot June Florida summer day in 1984, but I was on a mission. I had about 5 miles on my bicycle to go each way to the local Kmart, but that was no problem. After a short hot sweaty ride, I was there in no time.

A few weeks prior, I used a good chunk of my savings to buy a new stereo all-in-one system. It had a cool silver front, blue lights, matching speakers and a cassette tape player. I quickly realized then that I did not have any cassettes to play in it.

I had never owned a cassette tape until this day. At Kmart, I worked my way thru the huge alphabetical selection of cassette tapes. If you weren’t around in the 1980s, cassette tapes were the most popular form of music media at that time. I finally made to the H’s and found what I was dying to buy. Huey Lewis and the News latest release “Sports”. It had one of those long white plastic frames around it that they used to prevent folks from stealing. After spending the majority of the lawn mowing cash in my pocket, I was on my way home. I think I might of listen to this tape a few million times that summer!

If your an ACL collector, you have probably seen many unique brands that have Sports themes on their bottles.

I hope you enjoy “Sports”
